⚾ Speed Skating Rising Star, Im Ri-won, Takes the Mound!
Our speed skating national team's rising star, Im Ri-won, is making an appearance at the baseball stadium! Today, April 8, she will be throwing the first pitch for victory at the Doosan Bears vs. Kiwoom Heroes game held at Jamsil Baseball Stadium [1]. Im Ri-won competed as a member of the speed skating national team at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics held last February, and put on a great performance in the women's mass start semi-finals, right? [2] She has always expressed her deep affection for the Doosan Bears and mentioned that throwing the first pitch was one of her bucket list items, and she finally made that dream come true! She expressed her bold feelings, saying, "I am very thrilled to stand on the Doosan mound I've dreamed of," and that she will deliver the energy of victory so that Doosan can perform well [1]. I can't wait to see if she will show a cool pitch on the mound, just like her refreshing speed on the ice! Let's all not miss today's baseball broadcast! 📺
🥇 'Winter Strongest' Jeong Jae-won Achieves 3 Gold Medals at National Winter Sports Festival!
We heard a familiar name at the Gangwon athlete merit award ceremony. The protagonist is none other than Jeong Jae-won of the Gangwon Provincial Office! At the 107th National Winter Sports Festival held at the end of last February, Jeong Jae-won won an impressive 3 gold medals, playing a solid core role for the team [3]. It is said that he received special training expenses in recognition of this wonderful performance at the award ceremony held in Pyeongchang on the 31st of last month [3]. Isn't it really proud to see Jeong Jae-won, who steadily maintains his position at the top in every competition? Let's give him our unsparing support so that he can continue to show an even higher level of performance! 👏
🏆 Uijeongbu City Hall, Monumental 10 Consecutive Overall Wins at Chairman's Cup!
The domestic ice skating powerhouse, Uijeongbu City Hall Ice Skating Team, has built another incredible monument! They won the overall championship at the Business Ice Skating Federation Chairman's Cup Speed Skating Competition held at the Taereung International Skating Rink from March 27 to 29 . What's even more surprising is that with this victory, Uijeongbu City Hall achieved a monumental record of '10 consecutive years' of overall wins in this competition! It is truly not easy to steadily keep the top spot for 10 years, can you feel how great the athletes' sweat and effort must have been? Once again, I send my sincere applause of congratulations! 🎉
🤣 Unexpected Charm of the Speed Skating Empress? Flustered on the Ice!
Lastly, I'll introduce a hilarious video! A clip video of former national athlete Lee Sang-hwa, who appeared on the entertainment program 'Upgraded Human', has been released [4]. Where did the charismatic 'Speed Skating Empress' on the ice that we knew go? The video captures her flustered and struggling on the ice, showing a pleasant and friendly side, which is a hot topic among fans hahaha [4]. Even after retirement, seeing her bright appearance through various broadcasts like this is just so welcoming from a fan's perspective! If there are fans who haven't seen it yet, I strongly recommend you watch it! 😆
That's all for this week's news! Let's continue to love and support our speed skating athletes who are shining in their respective places even in the off-season! I'll be back next week with more fruitful news! Bye~ 👋
