⛸️ The Winter's Not Over! Figure Skating Worlds & Milano Behind-the-Scenes ❄️ - 2026.03.20
Hello, Milano fans! 🇮🇹 The Olympics might be over, but our love for winter sports is still going strong, right? ❄️ Today, I've brought a lot of exciting news that you've all been curious about!
⛸️ Figure Skating Worlds: Lee Hae-in Competes while Gold Medalists Rest
The Figure Skating World Championships will be held next week in Prague, Czech Republic! Lee Hae-in, who made it to the top 10 in Milano, will compete in this final stage of the season aiming for a top spot [1]. What's more, the outfit she wore during her Olympic free skate has been nominated for the ISU 'Best Costume Award' [1]! The results will be announced during the World Championships, so let's all look forward to it. On the other hand, major event winners who took gold in Milano, such as Alysa Liu, the Miura-Kihara duo, and the Chock-Bates duo, have announced their absence from this competition citing rest and retirement plans [2]. This is quite a contrast to 16 years ago when Kim Yuna competed in the World Championships right after the Olympics. It's a bit of a bummer, but this could be a great opportunity for our athletes, so let's keep cheering them on!
📺 Exclusive Olympic Broadcasting: Is This Okay?
Were there a lot of fans frustrated because there was no public TV broadcast during the Milano Olympics? Just today (the 20th), the Broadcasting and Media Communications Commission held a public hearing regarding broadcasting rights [3]. There were criticisms that universal viewing rights were compromised by JTBC's exclusive high-bid contract, and deep discussions took place about the need for digital resale guidelines or a practical prior-approval system [3]. I hope an environment is created where we can all comfortably cheer together for the next Olympics!
🏂 Choi Ga-on's Gold Medal Behind-the-Scenes & 🇰🇷 Paralympic Team Luncheon
At the ski and snowboard national team encouragement event held yesterday (the 19th), Choi Ga-on shared an amazing behind-the-scenes story from the finals! Right before her 3rd run in the halfpipe finals, when she was so nervous her legs wouldn't move, she received a text from her father saying, "All the Japanese athletes fell. You can do this," which gave her a huge boost of confidence [4]. By the way, she mentioned she wants to save her hefty prize money to buy a car later [5]! 🚗 And just today (the 20th)! Our athletes, including Kim Yoon-ji, who became Korea's first two-time winter Paralympic champion and set a record for the most medals in a single game at the Milano Paralympics, attended a presidential encouragement luncheon at the Blue House . I am so proud of our athletes who showed such indomitable spirit!
🌟 Short Track Queen's Next Steps & Behind-the-Scenes Talk
Choi Min-jeong, who bid farewell to the Olympic stage! She's not leaving the ice right away; she plans to participate in the upcoming national team trials in April [6]. She wants to wrap up her athletic career step by step while competing in domestic and international events, so let's stay with her until the end! Also, Kim Gilli, the two-time World Championship gold medalist, met with announcer Bae Sung-jae and shared honest behind-the-scenes stories about the regretful moment she fell during her Olympic race [7].
That's all the news I've prepared for today! I'll be back next week with more packed updates! Bye! 💙
