๐ป Today's Morning Show on Chulbal FM: A Preview of Christmas Music!
The playlist for KBS Classic FM's ใChulbal FM with Youใ broadcast on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, has been released [2]. This month's monthly feature, 'Classical of the Month,' is 'Christmas Music Preview,' so the holiday mood is already creeping in ๐ Hamish Milne plays Percy Grainger's 'The Sussex Mummers' Christmas Carol,' and Igor Levit plays Busoni's 'Nuit de Noรซl' [2].
The broadcast opens with the first movement of Mozart's Flute and Harp Concerto, KV.299, featuring Susan Palma on flute and Nancy Allen on harp with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra [2]. Bizet's Variations on a Theme from 'Carmen,' in Horowitz's arrangement, is performed by Arcadi Volodos on piano [2], and Elgar's 'Pomp and Circumstance' March No.1 is conducted by Georg Solti with the London Philharmonic [2]. It's sure to give your commute a serious boost ๐ช
And the highlight of this broadcast is the piano รฉtudes! Cho Seong-jin plays Chopin's รtude Op.10-1, and Yim Yun-chan plays Op.25-12 [2]. Hearing two pianists play Chopin รฉtudes side by side is such a thrill. Get ready for chills ๐น The 'Temptation of Picky Eating - Performer Edition' also features Tchaikovsky's Symphony No.6 'Pathรฉtique,' 4th movement, Adagio lamentoso, conducted by Gergiev with the Kirov Orchestra [2].
๐น Don't Miss Yesterday's Broadcast: The October 20 Playlist
The October 20 broadcast featured an even more varied lineup [3]. Schubert's Impromptu No.1 is played by Murray Perahia [3], and Tartini's Violin Sonata No.4, 'The Devil's Trill,' is performed by Nemanja Raduloviฤ [3]. Don't miss Baek Kun-woo's performance of Mozart's Adagio in C major for Glass Harmonica, too ๐
Debussy's 'Clair de lune' from Suite bergamasque, No.3, is performed by Cho Seong-jin, and Dvoลรกk's String Quartet No.12, 'American,' is played by the Barez Quartet [3]. Just the song list alone feels perfect for an autumn evening ๐
๐ป How Does a Genius Teach a Genius?
A masterclass video featuring violinist Kang Ria, who was accepted into the Juilliard Pre-College program at age seven, has been released [4]. It's fascinating that even a 10-year-old prodigy can have musical challenges that are hard to solve alone ๐ค The highlight is that violinist Han Su-jin began the lesson without hearing Ria's concerns in advance. Can she figure out the problem just by listening? The video also shows how the two work together on expression and how the playing changes before and after the lesson [4].
Ria was quite nervous meeting Han Su-jin, and her expression and movements were a bit stiff at first [4]. Still, seeing her work hard to learn and make the lessons her own was really touching ๐ Comparing her sound before and after the lesson will make it even more fun to watch. If you love violin, you have to check it out!
๐ค Warm Hearts Through Music
The Lotte Foundation has provided 40 million won in support to disabled artists [1]. At the event, cellist Lee Jung-hyun, who also works as a picture-score artist, performed the second movement of Shostakovich's Cello Sonata in D minor, Op.40 [1]. Singer Choi Won-hyuk, who holds master's and doctoral degrees from the Chopin University of Music in Poland, presented a piece from Puccini's opera ใTurandotใ [1]. It's so heartwarming that classical music rang out at a place cheering on people's dreams โบ๏ธ
Have a wonderful day filled with classical music! See you with more news soon ๐ป๐ถ
