Hello, fans! 🎹 We've got another packed week of classical news. From competition wins to exciting concert announcements, let's dive in! 😆

🏆 Shin Yeong-ho Takes Runner-Up at the Busoni Competition!

Shin Yeong-ho, a winner of the Shinhan Music Award, placed second at the Busoni International Piano Competition ^[1]. I started clapping the moment I heard the news 👏 Shinhan Bank discovers and supports promising Korean classical musicians through the Shinhan Music Award, and this result adds real momentum to that effort. Also, the 16th award winner Lee Jung-woo previously won the Georges Enescu International Competition ^[1].

🎹 Lim Yun-chan Takes the Stage at Siheung Arts Center's Opening

Pianist Lim Yun-chan, a native of Siheung, will perform at the opening celebration of Siheung Arts Center next month on the 28th ^[2]. He will play Mozart's piano sonatas at this first concert ^[2]. Lim Yun-chan headlining a venue's opening night? Just thinking about it doubles my excitement! 🥰 A promotional poster for 'Lim Yun-chan Piano Recital' has also been released, so mark your calendars ^[2].

🎻 Vivaldi and Piazzolla, Two 'Seasons' on One Stage

Eulsukdo Culture Center in Busan will hold 'Violinist Kim Hee-jung's Four Seasons' at 7:30 PM on the 6th of next month in its Grand Concert Hall ^[3]. Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons' paints the seasons with the delicate melodies typical of Baroque music, while Piazzolla's 'The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires' captures them with the intense, dynamic rhythms of the tango ^[3]. Two 'Seasons' with such different moods are a joy to compare! Violinist Kim Hee-jung will perform alongside Ensemble Stagione, made up of 12 professional musicians ^[3].

Tickets are 20,000 won for the first floor and 10,000 won for the second floor, with a 20% advance-booking discount bringing them to 16,000 won and 8,000 won ^[3]. Tickets are available on the Eulsukdo Culture Center website ^[3]. Kim Hee-jung graduated from the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf and the Folkwang University in Essen, and has performed with orchestras in Korea and abroad, serving as concertmaster and guest concertmaster ^[3].

🎬 Son Yeol-eum's Orchestra Now Hits the Big Screen

A concert recording by the Going Home Project Orchestra, a Son Yeol-eum-led conductorless orchestra experiment, has been turned into a film ^[4]. The performance, held at the Seoul Arts Center last July, featured Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7 'Leningrad' and Ravel's 'Boléro' ^[4]. It's the first time a Korean orchestra's concert recording has been made into a theatrical film ^[4]. A screening takes place on the 24th at the Yeongdeungpo Times Square CGV, so don't miss the chance to meet Son Yeol-eum in a cinema instead of a concert hall! 🍿

📻 Classical Music Flowing Through the Radio

On KBS Classic FM's '출발FM과함께' broadcast on October 22, listeners heard Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, 3rd movement, Bach's 'Sheep May Safely Graze', and the 4th movement of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 'Pathétique' ^[6]. The monthly feature 'Classical of the Month' focused on Christmas music previews for October, introducing 'Jingle Bells' and 'Sleigh Ride' from Maurice André's carol album ^[6]. Christmas music already? Time to switch on the holiday mood! 🎄

🏠 Gangjin County Brings Beethoven to Local Living Rooms

Gangjin County will bring the emotion of a major classical concert to local screens ^[5]. The footage features the live performances of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 'Emperor' and Symphony No. 5 'Fate' ^[5]. Getting to see 'Emperor' and 'Fate' right in your neighborhood? Lucky locals! 🥹
