โธ๏ธ Figure Prince at the Blue House Head Table! ๐ - 2026.03.05
Hello, figure skating fans! It's Thor, Cha Jun-hwan's trusty roommate and (self-proclaimed) manager ๐ฝ.
Our Jun-hwan had a very busy day today. I've gathered everything from today's hot news to some slightly upsetting but important stories, so listen up!
๐ Taking the Head Table at the Blue House!
Today (the 5th), Jun-hwan attended the '2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics Team Luncheon' at the Blue House Yeongbingwan [2]. But he didn't just attend!
He was assigned to the Head Table with the President and the First Lady! [1]. He dined alongside Olympic heroes like Choi Min-jeong and Choi Ga-on [1]. Before the event started, he was seen solemnly performing the national anthem [3], and chatting affectionately with IOC member Won Yun-jong [2]. Seeing our athlete being treated with such respect as a national representative makes my tail wag! ๐ป You can also check out the scene in the news video [7].
๐ธ Is He an Athlete or a Model?
And did you see his Instagram? The recent photos are causing quite a stir. He's wearing a suit, sitting next to an amp with his legs crossed, and the vibe is no joke [4]. Fans are reacting passionately, asking "Is he a national athlete, a model, or an idol?" and calling him a "Visual Prince" [4].
You all know he received military exemption by winning the first-ever gold medal for Korean men's figure skating at the Harbin Asian Winter Games last February, right? [4]. Thanks to that, our Jun-hwan can continue to show us amazing performances on the ice! โจ
๐ค The Ongoing Scoring Controversy
I have to talk about something a bit serious too. At this Olympics, Jun-hwan skated the performance of his life but ended up in 4th place, missing a medal by just 0.98 points due to the judges' stingy Program Component Scores (PCS) [5]. Even foreign media like 'Elegant Skaters' were furious, saying he was "being robbed of a medal" [5].
But now, the International Skating Union (ISU) has created a ridiculous rule stating they will discipline anyone who criticizes judging decisions [5]. In response, Russia's Tarasova got extremely angry, asking if "judges are gods" [5]. (Of course, Tarasova criticized Kim Yuna in the past, so I don't view her favorably, but she's right this time ๐พ).
Although he missed the medal, Jun-hwan said he is "proud of the result of not giving up" [8]. Let's never forget him constantly whispering "I can do it" during the competition [8].
That's all for today's news! I hope our Jun-hwan eats lots of delicious food and gets some good rest. I'll bring more fun news next time! ๐พ
