🏂 'Baechu Boy' Lee Sang-ho Writes New History for Korean Snowboarding!

Our 'Baechu Boy' Lee Sang-ho did it! On the 21st, he proudly claimed victory in the finals of the 2025-2026 FIS Snowboard World Cup Alpine Men's Parallel Slalom held in Winterberg, Germany ^[1]. With this win, Lee Sang-ho achieved an incredible milestone of 5 career World Cup victories, which is the first and highest number of wins in Korean snowboarding history .

Although he unfortunately had to turn back in the round of 16 at the Milano Olympics, he perfectly finished the season on a high note by winning gold in the final event, following his victory in the Slovenia competition and runner-up finish in Poland this season . Through his SNS, Lee Sang-ho shared his touching thoughts, saying, "It was a season with a lot of regrets, but thanks to the fans' support, I was able to finish well despite the difficult circumstances" ^[1]. Isn't it so proud? 👏

🥉 'Board Flip' Yoo Seung-eun, Eyes Already Set on 4 Years Later!

At the national team encouragement event held on the 19th, Yoo Seung-eun revealed her bold ambition, saying, "Now that I've won a bronze medal, I'll challenge for a gold medal next time" ^[2].

Regarding the 'board flip' ceremony that became a hot topic, she shared a cute behind-the-scenes story, saying, "It was the first time I succeeded in that trick in a competition, so the action came out without me realizing it" ^[2]. 🇨🇳 Controversy Over Deletion of Articles Defending Lin Xiaojun?

Meanwhile, an unusual atmosphere is being detected locally surrounding Lin Xiaojun (Korean name Lim Hyo-jun), who competed in the Milano Olympics as a Chinese national team member. Claims have been raised that Lin Xiaojun, who failed to win a medal in this tournament, faced unfair treatment and checks within China. There are successive reports that articles containing such content or posts citing Korean media are being deleted without permission from Chinese portals and SNS ^[3]. It's an unusual occurrence for sports-related posts to be controlled like this, raising concerns among fans ^[3].

🌍 Olympic Behind-the-Scenes from Across the Sea

News about overseas sports stars is also interesting! The uniform worn by Jutta Leerdam of the Netherlands, a speed skating gold medalist at the Milano Olympics, was auctioned off for a whopping 340 million won (170,000 pounds) ^[4]. Isn't it amazing news showing that sporting goods have become a huge investment market? 😲

Also, it was reported that the US women's ice hockey team, which won the gold medal at the Milano Olympics, decided not to accept the White House invitation ^[5]. On the other hand, the men's team reportedly visited the White House last month and had a luncheon ^[5].

That's all the news I prepared for today! The heat of winter sports continues even after the Olympics are over, and Milano Wonjeong-reo will continue to bring you updates quickly, so please look forward to the next newsletter! Bye~ 👋
