🎧 Yesterday's KBS Classic FM Showcased Classical Gems! Plus November Audition Pieces ✨ - 2026.11.04
Hello, fans! 🎧 Yesterday (November 4) KBS Classic FM aired a show that was a real treat for the ears. Classical favorites kept flowing one after another, and we enjoyed every minute [1]!
🎺 Heart-Pounding from the Opening
First up was the first movement of Hummel's Trumpet Concerto OP.49. Ludwig Güttler played trumpet with the Virtuosi Saxoniae, and the fast, spirited Allegro con spirito tempo instantly lifts your energy [1]. That bright trumpet tone is so charming! 🎺
Then came the fourth movement of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5! With Paavo Järvi conducting and the Zürich Tonhalle Orchestra performing, the grand finale really grabbed our ears [1]. You know the goosebump-inducing climax, right? 😭 Johann Strauss II's overture to the operetta 'Die Fledermaus' followed, performed by the Vienna Philharmonic under André Previn [1]. A lively piece that opened the show on a cheerful note.
🎹 November's Stars: Audition Pieces!
This month's monthly feature 'Classic of the Month' focuses on audition pieces for music college entrance in 2027 [1]. For those preparing for auditions, it was a perfect chance to get these pieces into your ears. Chopin's Etude OP.25 No. 11 in A minor 'Winter Wind' was played by Beatrice Rana [1]. The surging left-hand accompaniment and melody are truly breathtaking. We always wonder about the pianist's fingers when we hear this one 🥹
Bach's Italian Concerto BWV.971, third movement Presto, was heard in an organ performance by Hansjörg Albrecht [1]. Comparing how the same piece changes color on a different instrument is a lot of fun!
🎻 'Temptation of Picky Eating' & One-Line Requests
In the 'Temptation of Picky Eating - Performer Edition' segment, we heard the first movement, Molto Allegro, of Mozart's Symphony No. 40. Conducted by Herbert von Karajan with the Berlin Philharmonic, it's a combination everyone from beginners to die-hard fans will love [1]. The show also featured Saint-Saëns' Havanaise OP.83 with María Dueñas on violin, Manfred Honeck conducting, and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra [1], and Halvorsen's Passacaglia on a Theme by Handel with Itzhak Perlman on violin and Pinchas Zukerman on viola [1]. Two legends together? You've got to listen! 🤩
In the '3-Minute Encyclopedia' segment, Schubert's 'Nacht und Träume' (Samuel Hasselhorn and Joseph Middleton) and Fauré's 'Après un rêve' (Sabine Devieilhe and Alexandre Tharaud) were featured [1]. Short but lingering, they were perfect for a quiet night 🌙
Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2, second movement Adagio sostenuto, featured Daniil Trifonov on piano, Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting, and the Philadelphia Orchestra [1]. Finally, the show closed with Bizet's 'L'Arlésienne' Suite No. 2, movements 3 Menuet and 4 Farandole, conducted by Myung-whun Chung with the Orchestra of the Opéra National de Paris Bastille [1].
