🎃 Steam Halloween Sale & Steam Scream Fest 5: This Week's Steam Roundup! 💸 - 2026.10.27 | Steam

Hello, fans! 🎃 This week brought plenty of news that will make you check your wallet!

🎃 Halloween Season, Steam Scream Fest 5 Kicks Off!

Valve's Steam has opened 'Steam Scream 5', its annual Halloween-themed festival ^[1]. Popular titles and new indie games covering horror, thrillers, and supernatural themes from around the world are taking part ^[1]. The official trailer features familiar names like Resident Evil 4, The Outlast Trials, Phasmophobia, and Subnautica ^[8]. Horror fans, get your carts ready 😱

There's also a video rounding up the Halloween Sale lineup. Ssenchookyongs TV introduced titles like Ys/Trails of Cold Steel-style classics such as 'The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel' series entry 'The 1st' ^[6], along with Tomb Raider Remastered Bundle, GTA V Enhanced, and the Biohazard Remake Trilogy ^[6]. As the video points out, many more games are on the sale lineup beyond those featured, so search for any titles you've been waiting for ^[6].

💸 Record-Low Deals Are Here Too!

The CultOfMush video highlighted Steam deals under $2, at all-time low price levels ^[7]. Outlast, Outlast Trinity, Sons Of The Forest, Killing Floor 2, The Quarry, and SILENT HILL 2 were also listed in the video ^[7]. Your fingers are definitely itching to click 'buy' ✋

🎮 Classic Revivals and New Indie Releases

The classic 'Exstatica' series has returned on Steam as a restored version ^[2]. It has been optimized for modern PC environments and adds controller support, Steam achievements, cloud saves, and Steam Deck compatibility for greater convenience ^[2]. Steam Deck users will be happy about this one 🕹️

An interesting trend is also emerging: indie games themed around cleaning, organizing, and sorting keep launching on Steam. About six months after the success of <House Flipper>, PC indie games centered on home decorating are appearing one after another ^[3]. The article also introduces a top 10 list reflecting this trend, so check it out if you want a relaxing game ^[3].

According to SteamDB, 22,177 games have been released on Steam this year ^[5]. Compared with 21,233 games released in the previous full year, it's easy to see how many games are flooding the platform 😵

🚨 AI Copycat Controversy, Developers Are Worried

The problem of games being copied by AI is growing more serious. Korean studio Whynot closed the demo of its business simulation game 'Spooky Kitchen' on the 20th ^[4]. A developer on the team received two emails over the past month threatening to copy the game using AI ^[4]. Even non-developers can now create similar games with coding AI once they understand a game's mechanics ^[4].

Japanese indie studio Alliance Arts also canceled the public demo of its new game 'Drunk Gadis Reflux' and switched to a closed playtest with limited participants ^[4]. The reason was concern that a copycat game could launch before the original ^[4]. Some voices also worry that the structure could let copiers reap the rewards while originals bear the production costs ^[4]. Let's support indie developers by looking more carefully at every demo 🙏

Sales, a spooky festival, and new indie titles are all worth catching this week. Your wallet may suffer, but enjoy your Steam life! 🎮💸
