🏂 Choi Ga-on Wins 'Crystal Globe' & Snow Sports Heroes' Earnest Appeal 🏔️ - 2026.03.26 | 2026 Winter Sports Festival

Hello, fans! It's Milano Wonjeong-reo 😆

Today, I've brought a bunch of exciting news to keep the heat of the Milan Olympics going! From the earnest voices of our snow sports athletes to Choi Ga-on's incredible record that surprised the world once again! Keep your eyes wide open and follow along 👀✨

🏔️ "Give Us a Training Ground!" Snow Sports Heroes' Earnest Appeal

Our national athletes, who brought Korea its first-ever full set of gold, silver, and bronze medals in snow sports at the Milan Olympics, gathered at the Press Center today (26th) ^[2]. This was to appeal for the preservation of the 'Jeongseon Alpine Centre', which is facing demolition, to be used as an exclusive training ground for the national team ^[4].

Snowboard parallel giant slalom silver medalist Kim Sang-kyum and big air bronze medalist Yoo Seung-eun took the mic themselves. They pointed out the painful reality of lacking training infrastructure, saying, "If we go overseas for training, it costs at least 10 million won per person per month, and over 100 million won for a team" ^[3]. Demolition of the lifts is scheduled for next month, and the common voice of the ski community is that if this world-class facility, which cost 200 billion won in national taxes, disappears like this, it will be hard to expect a second Choi Ga-on or Yoo Seung-eun ^[2]. I really hope an environment where our athletes can train comfortably in Korea will be established! 🙏

🏂 Choi Ga-on Lifts Korea's First 'Crystal Globe'!

Our Milan Olympics halfpipe gold medalist Choi Ga-on has written another incredible piece of history! 🥇 She secured the season championship in the FIS World Cup halfpipe category, becoming the winner of the 'Crystal Globe' ^[1].

To tell you how amazing this is, she is the first Korean athlete, male or female, to win it, and at 17 years old, she broke the record for the youngest winner since Chloe Kim ^[1]! That's not all. She is currently maintaining a dominant lead in the overall Park & Pipe standings, making an overall championship highly likely ^[1]. Following her Olympic gold medal, Choi Ga-on is firmly holding her position as the world's best. Isn't it so proud? Her form is truly insane! 🔥

🌍 Mixed Fortunes for Ice and Snow World Stars

We can't leave out news from the international ice and snow scene! 'Ski Queen' Mikaela Shiffrin (USA), who won the gold medal in the alpine skiing slalom at the Milan Olympics, achieved a monumental record of winning her 6th overall World Cup title ^[5]. Sweeping 9 wins out of 10 slalom events this season is truly the path of a legend ^[6].

On the other hand, figure skater Kamila Valieva (Russia) delivered bitter news. She hoped to return for the Milan Olympics after her doping suspension was lifted, but her suspension period overlapped with the qualification schedule, leading to a failure in securing an international quota ^[7]. As a result, her return to the Olympic stage has effectively been canceled ^[7].

That's all the news I've prepared for today! Please continue to send your passionate support with Milano Wonjeong-reo so that our athletes can freely unfold their dreams in a better environment! See you in the next newsletter! Bye~ 💙❄️
