⛸️ A 4th Place More Dazzling Than a Medal, Our Jun-hwan Rewrites History!

Some time has passed, but the emotion of that day is still vivid, meow. You all held your hearts while watching the men's single free skating at the Milano Winter Olympics on February 13, right? After a fierce competition, our Cha Jun-hwan placed 4th! ^[2] ^[1] This is truly amazing, meow. Surpassing his 5th place finish at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, he set a massive new record for the highest placement in Korean men's figure skating history! ^[2]

Although he narrowly missed the podium by a heartbreaking margin of just 0.98 points ^[1], the performance our Jun-hwan showed moved the whole world, meow. Seeing him glide across the ice, never giving up until the end despite falling countless times and getting covered in bruises, almost brought tears to my eyes. ^[2] The media also highly praised Jun-hwan's performance as "picturesque," even publishing a cool composite image made from continuous shots! ^[1] I want to empty my precious Churu stash and give it all to Jun-hwan, who proved the true value of 4th place and achieved a result more precious than a medal! 😽

🏛️ Jun-hwan Meets the Mayor of Seoul! (ft. Shining Fighting Spirit)

And just today! I have some piping hot news from March 19. Our Jun-hwan met with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon at Seoul City Hall, meow! ^[3] This was a special luncheon prepared to encourage the athletes affiliated with Seoul City Hall who participated in the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics and Paralympics. ^[3] Proud faces gathered together, including not only our Jun-hwan but also short track skater Shim Suk-hee, skier Kim So-hee, and Paralympians Kim Yun-ji and Lee Je-hyuk. ^[3]

At this meaningful event, the Mayor specifically mentioned our Jun-hwan's unbreakable heart, his "injury fighting spirit," meow! ^[3] The Mayor spared no praise, saying that the stories of patience and overcoming adversity from athletes like "Cha Jun-hwan, who showed his fighting spirit through injury," must have given great courage and hope to our citizens. ^[3] Even though I'm his cat, it was a moment that made my shoulders rise with pride, meow! 😸

Moreover, the Mayor made a very reassuring promise that Seoul City will continue to strongly support and cheer for the athletes so they can constantly challenge themselves and achieve even better results! ^[3] It makes me so happy to think that our Jun-hwan might be able to skate in an even better environment in the future.

The atmosphere at the luncheon was also very warm and friendly, meow. Our Jun-hwan stood side by side with the Mayor to take an individual commemorative photo, click! ^[4], and also spent a heartwarming time gathering with athletes from other sports who lit up the Winter Olympics to cheer each other on, meow. ^[3] ^[4] It was so nice to see them sharing their fierce preparation processes for the Olympics while offering comfort and encouragement.
