๐พ [Thor's Meow-sletter] The Huge Void Left by Our Jun-hwan at the World Championships Short Program ๐ฟ - 2026.03.27
Hello meow, fans! This is Thor, bringing you the latest news about our Jun-hwan meow! ๐พ
Yesterday, I shared the sad news that our Jun-hwan withdrew from the World Championships due to a foot injury meow ๐ฟ. Today, the results of the Men's Short Program at the 2026 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Prague, Czech Republic, came out, and it was a day where our Jun-hwan's absence was felt so, so deeply meow...
An Empty Ice Rink, Disappointing Short Program Results ๐ง
Unfortunately, Cha Young-hyun, who competed in place of our Jun-hwan, and Kim Hyun-gyeom both failed to advance to the Free Skating meow. Cha Young-hyun recorded a TES of 37.70 and PCS of 37.70, placing 27th with a total of 70.92 points, while Kim Hyun-gyeom placed 28th with a total of 70.71 points [1]. Out of 36 skaters, only the top 24 can move on to the Free Skating, so it's a huge pity meow [2].
Next Year's Quota Reduced to 1 Spot ๐
At the World Championships, when two skaters from a country compete, the sum of their rankings must be 28 or less to maintain 2 spots for the following year meow. However, because the combined ranking of the two skaters reached 55 this time, the quota for Korean men's singles at next year's World Championships has been reduced from 2 spots to 1 meow [3].
It makes me realize once again just how incredibly our Jun-hwan has performed, having achieved a historic 4th place at the Milano Winter Olympics, and how heavy the burden on his shoulders must have been meow ๐ฅบ [4].
News About Other Skaters โธ๏ธ
Meanwhile, 1st place in the Short Program went to America's Ilia Malinin, who scored a personal best of 111.29 points meow. He struggled at the Olympics, but he has regained his confidence and is aiming for his third consecutive title meow [1]. France's Adam Siao Him Fa took 2nd place, and Estonia's Aleksandr Selevko came in 3rd meow [2].
I hope our Jun-hwan is resting well and focusing on treating his ankle right now meow ๐ฉน. Fans, please continue to send your warm support so Jun-hwan can recover quickly meow! Thor will stay right by his side, singing purr-songs and nursing him diligently meow ๐ ๐พ
