Hello, Speed Skating fans! It's Speed Skating Mania. 👋

March has already begun! Today, I brought some jaw-dropping news involving huge sums of money. It's about the star of the Milan Olympics who heated up last month! 🥇

💰 Beating Ronaldo! The $250,000 Uniform

Do you remember the Dutch 'Speed Skating Empress' Jutta Leerdam? She's the one who set an Olympic record and won the gold medal in the women's 1000m at the 2026 Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics! ^[2]

The uniform Leerdam actually wore during the Olympic race was put up for auction, and the winning bid was a whopping 195,000 Euros (approx. 333 million KRW)! ^[1] This is the highest price in the history of sports apparel auctions, and it's even three times higher than the winning bid for soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo's jersey (approx. 100 million KRW) ^[2]. Isn't that amazing? 😲

Leerdam became a hot topic for her ceremony of unzipping her suit after confirming her victory, and thanks to this scene, she received tremendous attention worldwide ^[1]. This auction was conducted in collaboration with the Dutch Olympic Committee, and most of the proceeds will be donated to the youth skating club where Leerdam first skated as a child ^[3]. It's heartwarming to know it will be used for children! 🥰

By the way, Femke Kok, the winner of the women's 500m, also joined the good cause by putting her race suit up for auction . The fan love and donation culture of the Dutch athletes seem really cool.

👶 Future National Representatives! Junior World Championships

Shall we turn our eyes to Inzell, Germany? On the 1st, the ISU World Junior Speed Skating Championships came to a close .

In this competition, the performance of the Chinese team stood out. They won a total of 6 medals, including 2 golds . In particular, 19-year-old Tai Zien showed great performance in the women's Mass Start with a silver medal and in the 3000m .

Check out the video of promising players from all over the world competing fiercely! 👇

That's all for today's news! Be careful not to catch a cold during the changing seasons, and I'll be back with more interesting speed skating stories next time! ❄️
